To list a few highlights:
- Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
- Education system gives free computers to students, has free Internet in all public parks (and there are many) and schools. The country hosts two schools of international accreditations, as well as other private learning institutions that strive for the highest in education.
- Flexible building laws that allow for more creative or cost efficient building models.
- Carribean and pacific island networks, some of the most amazing archipelagos of islands on the globe provide for some of the smoothest waters that attract some of the most magnificent sea and bird life.
- Relatively low crime per capita, mostly petty crimes such as petty theft and a very low violent crime rate.
- Great food at great prices! The freshest of tropical grown fruits and vegetables, fresh fish and local poultry. I just ate deep sea yellow fin tuna, for 2.50 a lb, potato salad made with eggs from our small coup, and a fresh Papaya smoothie, also from the small family farm here. Finding Organic growers to trade with or buy from is not hard, and doing your own tropical growing isn't either. I can take a clipping and stick it in the ground to see it gain 6 feet of growth in as little as a year (depending on what it is).
- Cheap traveling, no need for a car. Buses at the rate of 35 cents will get you anywhere you need to go. Taxis at the rate 1.50 to 5.00 the same thing.
- Cheap everything. The cost of goods in Panama is about half to 1 fifth the price of goods in the states (depending on the state).
- Cheap building, materials and land. This wont stay, loads of new Americans and every other type of foreigner are coming in each day by the tons. I have never lived in a place that has grown this fast. There is new construction and remodeling everywhere, property sales rates are phenomenal.
